Dear Friends:

Were the three wise men Christian?

I have been wrestling with the Christmas Story and the journey of the Magi, the Wise Men, or the "Wizards" as our friends in Austin, Texas. Click here.

Paul talks about the idea of getting to know Almighty God through His creation in Romans 1:18-20. These three Magi of the East learned about God through nature and came to visit Him where He would be.

Throughout history wise and talented people have learned of God and experienced God. From adulterous Kings, to Roman Emperor's, from anti-Christian Rabbis, to Eastern Wizards, from blue collar Shepherds, to Debauched composers, there are many characters who have experienced His Grace.

This Christmas remember the Magic of Grace, the Mystery of God's Revelation and the Joy of Christ's Mass. Remember His birthday and look for opportunities to experience and share God's revelation to others. When you're faced with the disappointment of not being able to find Halo 3, put your Halo on and buy an extra gift for all the neighbors on your block. Christmas is redeemed in the same way it was invented; through acts of love however small.

A few slack jawed shepherds and Wizards were the first to encounter the Almighty All Powerful "Baby" Jesus. They weren't Christians but I don't think He minded. He probably was just glad His mommy was holding Him.

Hold Him in your heart too.

Merry Christmas,
