Dear Friends:
This week: 36 Parables in the real world part 1...
Pastor Donn Anderson uses 36 Parables in a one-week leadership-training program for students from around the world.
I showed "Spilt Milk" and "Buen Vecino" to 49 adult male students I had from the countries of Belarus, Botswana, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Mauritius, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania. It is a little slice of heaven to be with believers from so many different areas of the world. What a privilege!
Early in the week we watch "Spilt Milk" and challenge the students to tell me which one of Jesus' parable they think it is. Several of the students got it right away this time, which is impressive. It usually takes a bit of guessing for them to catch on to it. Part of the reason, I think, is that much of the world does not drink milk. So the metaphor doesn't work for them without a little help. So before I show it, I talk about good milk and bad milk. Then after I show it, I challenge them with this question: "During this training time together, what kind of a wine skin are you going to be?" It has a very powerful impact on them.
God's best to you as you continue to serve Him through 36 Parables...
-Donn Anderson
